National Point-to-Point Sponsors 2022-3
We are very grateful to our National point-to-point sponsors for the 2022-23 season.
TATTERSALLS CHELTENHAM 4-AND 5-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN SERIES
Young horses racing between the flags are the future stars of National Hunt racing and 14 maidens
confined to four and five-year-olds (plus one for 4yo only) will take place in 2022-2023.
Tattersalls Cheltenham will both be sponsoring six young horse maidens this season and are hoping
that more of the winners and placed horses will go to their sales and on to greater success – last
year, Salt Rock, who won their race at Charlton Horethorne, was sold for 205,000 guineas.
Tattersalls Cheltenham will also be sponsoring the Leading Owner Award for the 2022-2023 season.
GOFFS UK 4-AND 5-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN SERIES
Young horses racing between the flags are the future stars of National Hunt racing and 14 maidens
confined to four and five-year-olds (plus one for 4yo only) will take place in 2022-2023.
Goffs UK will be sponsoring the young horse maidens again this season and are hoping that more of
the winners and placed horses will go to their sales and on to greater success – last year, Pedley
Wood, who won the young horse maiden at Sheriff Hutton, was sold for 75,000 guineas.
INEOS GRENADIER MIXED OPEN SERIES
The second year of the INEOS Grenadier Mixed Open Series will include 16 races across the country
and will again culminate in a final at the Cheltenham evening fixture.
Qualification for the final started at Great Trethew on the first weekend of the season and concludes
at Overton at the end of April, so truly covers the entire season and the whole country.
INEOS Grenadier were delighted with their first year as a sponsor and are looking forward to more of
the same this year.
THE JOCKEY CLUB MARES' MAIDEN SERIES
The Jockey Club has long been a great supporter of point-to-points.
As well as co-sponsoring the veterans race series, it supports all 16 Mares Maidens national calendar
and the inaugural series final at Woodford will return this year.
The Jockey Club also sponsors the videographers, which allows the sport to keep a record of most
fixtures across the country.
THE JOCKEY CLUB & RETRAINING OF RACEHORSES (ROR) VETERAN HORSE SERIES
Retraining of Racehorses is now entering its fourth year as a co-sponsor of the Veteran Horse
Conditions Race series, alongside the Jockey Club.
The series is designed to promote horses coming from National Hunt racing, who are about one-
third of the total running in points, many of whom are schoolmasters –point-to-pointing is the most
popular home for ex-rules horses.
In previous years, a late season final has attracted a limited number of runners so this season, the
winner will be decided by a points table, based on the 16 races in the series.
